Bloom True – week 1: intuition
Every week has a different theme and two painting workshops. Flora has broken the painting process down for the class exercises in easy bite-sized lessons. And at the end she will show how she all bring together to create finished paintings. You will see at the ‘painting workshop’ how I’m doing.
Jede Woche hat ein anderes Thema und zwei Mal-Aufgaben. Für den Kurs hat Flora den Mal-Process in einfache kleine Lexionen geteilt. Und am Ende wird sie zeichen, wie sie alles zusammen bringt um ein fertiges Werk zu gestalten. Ich zeige im ‘painting workshop’, wie und was ich im Laufe des Kurses erarbeite.

day #2 the first layer
the first layer of my paintings on canvas and heavy water-color paper waiting to dry
That was fun! Dripping fluid acrylics on the canvas, dancing blindfolded and panting with my fingers on the canvas – all with warm colors. And at the end it is very important to use up all paint. So I did a third painting on a heavy water-color paper.
It’s not easy to start a painting on a blank white canvas. But to think of or to know that the first layer will be totally covered by the end is the same unbelievable and difficult to me. Because once when I begin to like my painting I don’t want to let it go and cover it. So we will see how this works in this five-week painting course…
Das hat Spaß gemacht. Flüssige Acrylfarbe auf die Leinwand tröpfeln, mit verbundenen Augen tanzend die Farbe mit den Fingern auf die Leinwand malen – all das mit warmen Farben. Und am Ende ist es wichtig, alle Farbe aufzubrauchen. So lasse ich eine dritte Malerei auf schwerem Aquarellpapier entstehen.
Auf einer weißen leeren Leinwand anzufangen ist schwer. Genau so unvorstellbar und schwer ist es für mich zu wissen, dass die erste Malschicht am Ende komplett übermalt sein wird. Denn wenn ich einmal angefangen habe das Gemalte oder Gezeichnete zu mögen, will ich es behalten und nicht verändern müssen. Nun denn: ich werde sehen, wie das sich in Laufe des fünf Wochen Malkurs für mich entwickelt…
day#5 the second layer or ‘meeting my tools’

Main focus was to try out all my painting tools and bringing color in as much marks as possible on the canvases. As I had used warm colors in the first layer I was supposed to paint the second layer in cold colors. At the end the paintings look pretty much the same – to me.
Hauptsächlich ging es darum alle meine Mal-Utensilien und -Techniken auszuprobieren und in möglichst unterscheidlicher Weise die Farbe auf die Leinwand zu bringen. Da ich ich in der ersten Lage warme Farben benutzt habe, war es angeraten, nun die kalten Farben zu benutzten. Am Ende sehen die Ergebnisse ziemlich gleich aus – für mich.
