Headless

Look what I painted the past weekend at art school. Our topic was ‘portrait’, ‘figure’ and ‘scene’. And it was the first time I dared to not follow the suggestion of my teacher who wanted changes which I didn’t feel ok with.

I’ve chosen a photograph from my childhood and an ‘old’ painted canvas from the summer workshop.

I actually love the photo (not shown here) and the story in it. But when I sketched it to prepare the painting I couldn’t draw the face of the adult woman. Don’t ask me why. It’s hard and weird. And I decided to painting the scene with focus on the child and leave a part of the woman.
